Our story started in early 2006 as a company named Arbor-aide. In early 2024, the business was restructured and renamed to Silvar Inc. We have a desire to provide honest, expert and educational tree care through experienced and well trained staff. We are proud members of the International Society of Arboriculture and Landscape Ontario.

Our arborists are trained to provide pruning for your trees and shrubs with a level of care way beyond your average property maintenance company. Skilled in proper pruning techniques and an eye for naturally aesthetic appeal, you can trust our team to balance what is healthy for your plants and maintaining the aesthetics and curb appeal of your landscape.
For nearly 20 years, we've been improving your sunset views of Lake Huron from cottages all along the coast. Upgrading the view and preventing decline to the valuable trees on your embankment are priorities our team takes pride in. Your embankment trees help prevent devastating erosion that could jeopardize your cottage or lakefront structures.
Tree removal can be a necessary part of our work. Trees can become dangerous and compromised or they may be in the way for your next construction project. Using advanced rigging techniques and our teams of climbers or equipment operators, we can safely and effectively take that tree down, whether its 12" in diameter or 72"+.
With an eye for crisp and clean hedges, we've become your local source for maintaining your cedar hedges. We typically perform this service later in the season to take advantage of the halt in growth after August. Since the hedges don't grow any further for the year, your hedge will look trimmed and neat for a lot longer - improving the value for the service we provide.
Unsightly or annoying stump in your yard? Maybe getting tired of hitting it with the lawnmower? We can take care of that! With two sizes of stump grinders, we can grind down any sized stump in almost any part of your property. Tight access? No problem, our smallest machine is capable of fitting through gates as small as 33 inches wide.
Did your spouse ask you to take that tree down yourself, but not sure what to do with all that brush? We offer brush chipping services to save you those multiple loads to the compost site. Our commercial chippers are capable of handling up to 10" diameter brush and wood. Inquire today, minimum charges may apply.
Sometimes, plants grow in the easiest direction, not necessarily the strongest. If you suspect or notice cracking/splitting in your tree's limbs or trunk, cabling or bracing may be a technique that we can use to reduce risk or even rectify the issue. We offer two methods of cabling and a number of bracing solutions - ask our arborist for more information on how we can help.
In a forest setting, leaves and debris return to the ground to be broken down by insects, fungi and microbes for trees to reuse the nutrients. In our urban landscape, there is no replenishing of these nutrients to help give your trees that needed boost to recover from stress, injury or disease and pest pressures. We use a specially formulated slow release fertilizer injected directly into the root zone of your trees for maximum uptake.
Occasionally, with today's more frequent severe weather, trees can be damaged in high winds and heavy rain or snow. We are equipped, trained and prepared to safely deal with these occurrences in order to make your property safe and prevent further damage.
Have questions about the trees on your property? Google AI isn't giving you the advice you are looking for? Our lead arborist has been in the industry for more than 20 years and has trained in various sectors of horticulture all over the globe - from working for the Royal Horticultural Society in England to nursery and fruit production in New Zealand. Our passion is trees and your landscape, let us help you make the most out of yours!
Though not a major part of our repertoire, we have the equipment and knowledge to plant individual trees and shrubs or even hedges within your landscape. With site selection and species and varietal selection prioritized, we can ensure "the right plant in the right place", eliminating the unnecessary removal in 10-15 years. With our many contacts, we can source almost any special tree you are looking for.
Outside of the other listed services, we do offer a number of other services such as mulch sales, tree sales, Christmas light installation, crane rental, bucket truck rental and skid steer rental for needs outside of our regular tree work services. All equipment rentals include operator. Touch base with us to find out if we can help with anything that might fit in those categories.
